I would imagine that its for black folks only. I dont think that being racist since the fund comes from private donations. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Sure its racist. Anything encouraging the belief in "races" is racist. Saying that one kid deserves something because his skin is a darker shade than another kid because some guy hundreds of years ago with dark skin had to do something for some guy with lighter skin is rather "silly", unless ofcourse you've been raised in a culture that praises it.

This kinda goes along the same premise, but ive always believed that FUBU was racist. i mean, come on. how dumb do you have to be to not get "For Us, By Us". quite frankly, it pisses me off.

I'm not trying to imply there's something "wrong" with it giving aid to the kids that it gives aid to. Just that the whole "race" element of the selection process is rather silly

it was started by black people that wanna help their communities, i see nothin wrong with that. there are enough funds that help white people

If a fund was set up to aid whites only, it would be labeled a "white supremesist organiazation" plain and simple. The plain fact is that whites already get more financial aid than blacks or any other race even though tons of financial aid is "exclusive" to non-whites. I think it's a good thing that we have the UNCF even though they should ask more questions .

and i never said there are lots exclusively for white people... just almost every aid a white person can participate in

And there are tons of scholarships for 'minority' caucasians in the US (Polish, Italian, Spanish, etc.)

All of these have strict rules about the lineage and race of the applicants. In these cases, it limits the scholarship to a specific segment of the US caucasian population.

But your point is still taken that AFAIK, there is no scholarship available for all "whites" as a class, similar to the UNCF. Perhaps the New Sons of Liberty or some other exclusively white organization does though...

How can using "race" to determine anything be a good thing? Is a person ever better for being of one "race" as opposed to another?
