Isuzu Rodeo (97)

Being a new Rodeo owner (Sept), and visiting this forum; First I would like to say thank you to any that have helped me with questions. I have read alot of neg. about the 97 Rodeo (mostly the NHTSA complaints). Are they really that bad of a truck? I have 79800 on mine. since I purchased it, I have only put on shocks and the flex pipe (knock on wood!!!!). I have read much about lugs shearing off and was wondering if people are really haveing these problems, or if it was isolated [regional, wheel type (aluminum), etc]. I know personally, the only real gripe I have is the defroster isn't the best, and a slightly louder than I am used to engine (I just put in 5 quarts Super Tech synthetic, and a quart of Slick 50). Overall, I love this truck; very roomy, ride not all that bad, haven't tried it in snow yet but am eager (Pa. should eventually get some Thank you again for this forum.
Paul

Paul, in my opinion, 1997 is one of the BEST rodeo years. Reliable SOHC 3.2L, + the last year of that run before the 1998 change, so they basically had 1991-1997 to perfect it. Keep up on your maintenance & be sure to changeout the ATF on your 4L30E AT often.
G/luck!
