Remote start, Stupid stick
Hey everybody, I have a 2004 cav. I love the remote start. I guess you can still install a remote start in my car if I disengage the clutch safety switch I was told. Then whenever I get out I would have to pull the e-brake. Is this correct? And if so, over the winter would'nt there be a chanch that the e-brake would freeze? Let me know if any of you guys have one of these on your car. Thanks

Re: Remote start, Stupid stick
1. Its illegal to do this and will fail state saftey inspections.
2. Trying to find someone to do it for you will be next to impossible.

Re: Remote start, Stupid stick
ya the only time you should be fiddling with the neutral safety is well ya shouldnt ever but - i did a trans swap on my 90 shelby from auto to manual an u have to hook it to a possitive current on the battery other wise your car wont start - took the opertunity an made a kill switch for the engine with it - so ya cant steal my car it worked out well the auto to manual conversion only took me about 6 hours with alot of dickin around goin to town an what not... i was lucky cause i got a whole other wrecked car for 250 $ so i took the pedal assy. an cables an trans. an it worked out great new clutch/ friction plate /throw out bearing/fly wheel/ ect... but JUST DONT FIDDLE WITH YOURS OR HAVE SOMEONE FIDDLE WITH YOURS AN PUT A REMO START ON IT - like they said its DANGER, an nobody (shop) will do it cause they will loose there license if caught.

Re: Remote start, Stupid stick
There are some remote starts out there for manual transmission cars. You have to do something like engage the remote start after you have it in nuetral with the ebrake on. Then, take out the ignition key, get out, and lock it or shut the door. Then, depending on the RS, you either shut it off with the remote or it will shut off itself. You can then RS as much as you want until you open a door. If you do, you will have to go through the hoops again.
