Lost stereo code, can I get hold of it somehow? Or stereo replacement!
I had some work carried out on my car and when I got it back the stereo asked for a code. The only trouble is that I don't have the code, I didn't get it when I brought the car
Is there anyway of getting the code? If I take the stereo out will it be written on the stereo somewhere? At some point I would like to replace the stereo and was wondering if I could fit a double din size stereo in the dash? if not does someone make a blanking plate allowing the fitment of a standard size stereo? Any help would be appreciated I hate driving without any music ![]() I know of places that can crack the code as such but this will cost me about £15 and I would rather put this towards a new system. Cheers in advance for any help Tim P.S 1996 grand cherokee mk2 4.0l |

Re: Lost stereo code, can I get hold of it somehow? Or stereo replacement!
Is it a factory stereo or aftermarket? I didn't know that Jeep had a security stereo deck. I would pull it out just to check to see if the code is on there somewhere. If not, start at all zero's and work your way up til it works. Yes the doubles should fit in like factory. I had a factory double that I swapped out for a single deck with an adapter kit. Hopefully this should help ya.

That is a great idea, why didn't I think of that. Maybe I should give up my job and set about cracking the code on my stereo, and maybe by about 2015 I might have found it. Come to think of it 2015 might be the code
![]() Its a nice idea but I managed to get the code from the original dealer that sold the car from new, so I don't need to worry about giving my job up just yet ![]() I don't know how many stereos jeep make that need a code but mine definatly did, I have a 96 Grand Cherokee with a factory fit infinity gold system. There may be other stereos out there on newer jeeps that don't need a code im not sure. Cheers for the reply though its much appriciated. Tim
