What kind of difference?

Ok, I just got some money. Finally. Anyway, I'm going to change the filters and plugs in the car; it should run fine then. I am then going to buy a MBC and a downpipe for the car (found one for $120). I know the controller (setting it at 14psi; from 9psi) will get me around 40 or so hp (I think). Just wondering what kind of hp I should expect from the pipe. Let's say I get a K&N kit or HKS megaflow intake, combined with the other two mods, what kind of 1/4 mile difference should I be looking at for a first gen? I'd really like to run that slightly modded E46 M3 I raced in the Fox, that beat me pretty good.

Re: What kind of difference?

with the downpipe, gutted precats, 14.5psi, and an intake, you should be around 380-400hp at the crank and running 12.8-13.1 at the track.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

THAT MAKES ME ALL GIGGLY! I would love to give a Z06 a run for its money. There's a guy with a black on in my area; very nice guy, compliments the car. It would be fun to keep pace.

Also guys, what exactly is "gutting my precats"? I have no idea what that involves. Thanks.

Re: What kind of difference?

I think that in ur cats, there's like a sac, which converts the car's emisions from bad to slightly less bad C02 or somthing, but it restricts your exhaust, so if you were to "gut" your cats, you'd see a what 3-4 HP increase??? Not sure on that one, but I'm sure thourun knows the key specs to it.
