Unhappy 98 neon leaking oil

I was wondering if anyone knows about neons. I have a 98 neon that I had for a year now and it is now leaking oil pretty badly. It just started doing this in the middle of November. I put oil in it about every 2-3 weeks. I went to a mechanic and he said my head gasket is broken but I really don't believe him especially if he wants $1200. Can any one help me out and possibly tell me what is wrong.

Re: 98 neon leaking oil

It is usually the head gasket on neons, it is a common problem.

The mechanic that checked it out is right. It is a headgasket,It is a common problem and most auto parts stores stock the headgaskets. It is the same engine in Dodge Stratuses, in some mini vans with the same headgasket problems.

It Is The Head Gasket Thats Leaking The Oil....you May Also Need To Change The Valve Cover Gasket....if That Mechanic Is Charging That Much...go Some Where Else I Had Mine Fixed For Almost $600 Dollars(almost 600 With Tax) Search Around For The Better Deal

Re: 98 neon leaking oil

I had a pretty bad oil leak and it was the rear oil seal (which is what I was told) and I had it replaced twice in 6 months.
