gas leak

can't fill tank above half without it leaking..
do i need a new gas tank?...if so I'll live with it.

Well that depends on where it is leaking from. If it is leaking from a hole in the tank, well then yeah you are going to need a new tank. Don't think it might be the safest thing to be driving around with a leaking gas tank. Check the fuel filler neck, lines, connections etc.

The tank stops leaking below half. I'll wait for warmer, dryer weather to get a good look

Hey where are you at, I have a tank from a malibu that could be had cheap.
The tank is in Flint, Michigan, If your interested let me know.
