1983 Z28

I am looking at purchising a 1983 Z28 with the following options, 350 ci motor along with a th350 tranny (converted from a 700r4). The Motor has about 3000 miles on it, it was installed at 123,000 miles, the motor consistes of a 350 2 bolt main short block from shucks, 69 double hump 2.02 heads, with edelbrock springs and retainers, RPM Air Gap intake, a .454/.454 Crane Cam hydraulic, AVS thunder carb 650cfm, accell pro 8.8mm wires, accell high spark coil, headman headers, double roller timing chain, flex-a-lite fan, and 160 degree thermostat. The tranny is a jegs TH350 with a B&M stage 2 shift kit, and an 1800 stall converter, also with 3000 miles. Interior consists of a 92 RS Camaro interior, minus the dash. Dash comes complete with speedo, tach, oil preasure, water temp, voltage, and fuel. Brand new exhaust with a magna-flow muffler to go with it. Stereo consists of a Pioner DEH-P960 , 2 - memphis 10" subs with 800 watt kenwood amp very impressive stereo, engine runs great, car looks great, ready to go with a full tank of premium gas. Has all brand new tires. What do you think this all should cost, the guy is selling it for 3 grand. Any idea on quater mille time with this. Thanks

Re: 1985 Z28

The doesnt sound like that bad of a price but I personally wouldnt touch it. I bought my car all modded up and the guy I bought it from didnt know anything about it. So im always finding new things on it.

Either way I would definately try to get him lower.

Why, I am fairly new to the whole muscle cars so I am not sure what the difference between 2 bolt and 4 bolt is. If you could elaborate....

Re: 1985 Z28

4 bolt means a way stronger bottom end, and that eqauls being able to handle a lot more hp

Re: 1985 Z28

Okay, I am looking to get total hp up to around 350hp would this be a problem with the 2 bolt. What do you want to take a 2 bolt up to (hp rating)? Thanks again

Re: 1985 Z28

If it's a 2 bolt main , you might as well be gettting a 305. About the same for reliability. 2 bolt is destined for failure. You can buy mine for 2 G if you want a 92 and I got all the papers for my labor and mods.

Re: 1985 Z28

there not that bad, there def not as strong but if your only wanting 350 hp and u dont have money for a brand new block, theres nothing wrong with a 2 bolt 350

Re: 1985 Z28

Thats horseshit. 2 bolts work great until you get them upto high rpms. Stock gm 4 bolts arent that much better than everyone thinks they are. The best way to go, is get a 2 bolt block and have it machined for 4 bolt splayed caps. I worked at an engine shop and we put out plenty of strong 2 bolt blocks and some of them made nice numbers on the dyno.
