aftermarket upgrades

I recently bought a 1997 Contour, 2.5L, V6, 5-Speed manual. I was wondering where to look online to find some good aftermarket upgrades. I am lookfing for both cosmetic and performance enhancements. I also want to ask if its possible to convert it into a rear wheel drive car? I have heard of people changing transmissions and axels out of bronco 2's and changing the joints to make them rear wheel. I didnt think this was possible. Just would like to know your thoughts. I am just starting to get really into cars, Ill try and help out as much as I can with others. Thanks for your time.

The first place you should look is contour.org. Any info you need can be found there.

Are far as sites that sell parts;
spmotorsports.com
ctamotorsports.com
batinc.net
trubendz.com

As far a switching to RWD, anything is possible with enough money, but to date, I've never heard of anyone doing it, especially with Bonco II parts. There is a fairly popular engine swap which uses the 3.0 short block from the Taurus/Sable/Escape.

It is possible to swap over the Jaguar X-type bits or of the Mondeo/ Cosworth Escort awd system but Id say your looking at about $10,000 in parts, labor, and importing if your doing it from the UK.

Much is available for the 2.5L engine. A lot of people including myself have done 3.0L swaps which yield about 30 extra hp and tq, not to mention, a more reliable engine since it uses an extra oil passage. Arizona dyno chip makes a turbo kit for the car and Vortech makes a supercharger (which I dont recommend with its 100% failure rate). There are bodykits, etc available. Check out the duratec performance and aesthetics branch over on contour.org in the forums. Theres a thread stickied at the top regarding engine mods and aesthetics.
