Overfilling Transmission Fluid

Can overfilling transmission fluid damage an engine a year later? I don't think this is possible. I know that a bad transmission or one in need of repair can trigger a check engine code, but I don't think the fluid can really affect the engine, especially a year later. What are some opinions on this?

Re: Overfilling Transmission Fluid

I don't see how overfilling a transmission can do anything but affect the transmission. Should not affect the engine.

Nope. Shouldn't affect the engine at all.
