I have noticed that smoke the color of grey and white come out of my exhuast when i accelerate and when its cold outside you can see a lot more smoke, the air is turned off, I figured it could be because the car has not been driven in 6 months! So when i got it i went and got the oil and oil filter changed out. What do yall think this problem is? Motor about to go....some type of leak in the engine.....oil leaks? Thanks for your replies. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
IMPORTANT: The car is a 1991 240sx fastback with 172,000 on the motor (thats what i think most of the problem is)

Re: Smoke......
most older car smoke for a few minutes when you bring them onto the road after setting awhile. then again it could also mean your piston rings are worn, but im no mechanic so what i just said could be way off

Re: Smoke......
Don't listen to him. He'll tell you it's totaled and try to steal it from you.

Re: Smoke......
How much smoke comes out? How long? Usually if its cold, you will get smoke, just like you do from breathing. If you get clouds of smoke, like you are running on water instead of gas, chances are you have a headgasket leak. Check the coolant for little black specs or test the coolant for hydrocarbons. An old engine is not necessarily a bad engine. A leakdown test would be a good idea, or at least run a compression test.
Blue smoke=oil Black smoke=rich condition White smoke=coolant(head gasket)
