Mercury Sable 1991 Heating core

The heating core on our sable is cracked and leaking glycol; very expensive to fix. We actually don't need the heater at all, just the air conditioner. Is there any way to by pass the heater altogether.

Re: Mercury Sable 1991 Heating core

Yes. Go to the hardware store (a lot cheaper than an auto parts store) and by a brass 5/8" hose splicer.
Loosen the four clamps on the hoses going to the heater core.
Disconnect the two hoses from the heater core and connect them together using the splicer.
Tighten the four hose clamps.
Check coolant level.
