p0758 Solenoid Circuit B code

Hey all,

Just looking for a little insight...

specs: 95 blazer 4.3L auto trans.

Just had my transmission rebuilt in August, and it's been running great since then. Until last week.

Drove it home from work fine, went back out about an hour later and it backed out of parking space fine, but when put into drive, it barely moved until I got up to speed.. (reminded me of driving a manual starting off in 2nd or 3rd...) CES light immediately came on.
since I got going I continued to destination which was only a mile up the road. And there was a Autozone in that shopping center so had em check the codes (always amusing to hear them tell me they can't do it on my 95 until I have to practically drag them out of the store)
only thing on there was the P0758 Solenoid Circuit B...

however after getting the truck back home.. and driving it to work the next day, after work the CES light was gone, and it went 'forward' right away... 2 days later it was back on with problem going forward and has stayed on.

so I'm wondering if loose wiring can cause the solenoid to fail since they were just in my tranny this fall.

and what would be best course of action... take it back to them or just inspect the solenoid myself... and is it easy to get to/inspect?

another question is.. what is that solenoid called? is there only 'one' transmission solenoid?

know it may sound crazy but the problem may be the ignition switch.

I experienced the same problem when my switch went bad several months ago. I got it scanned at Autozone. The Codes I got were:
P0758 solenoid B,
P0753 Solenoid A,
P0785 Shift timing solenoid,
P0740 Torque converter clutch,
P1860 Transfer case contact plate D.

I was told it was the tranny but after some research i came to the conclusion it was the ignition switch (a common problem on the 97's and other models too). The problem is carbon buildup on the electrical contacts suppling power to different functions of the vehicle. Mine has been working fine since i fixed the switch

The symptoms I had were the same as yours. sometimes it worked fine and sometimes it didn't. Search more threads for more info. The switch, on a 97, is less then $100.00 if you replace it yourself

I'll keep that in mind.. altho.. I didn't get any of the other codes.. just the one. Since I'd just had the tranny rebuilt in Aug.. its still under warranty.. so I dropped it of at the shop that did the work and they'll look at it tomorrow.

Just a note, a person i met on here before with a 2001 blazer had replaced his tranny to find out it was the switch. sometimes tranny shops don't look for other problems.

If it is under warranty, it is the shops problem, don't touch anything yourself.

Yep,
I took it to the shop, they took care of it... they hadn't replaced the solenoids when they rebuilt my tranny. One of few 'good' mechanic experiences I've had.. took it to them and they said.. Yup..that's our fault.. we'll take care of that. I didn't have to verbally wrestle with them.

I am getting the exact same error codes on my 97, and same problems as he stated above....almost took it into trans shop.....could you tell me exactly what piece it is that gets carbon build up...and any other info..plzz..thnxx
