Question 3.25 pully?

hey guys,
i've looked a previous posts but they didn't really help me much cause i found conflicting info. i was wondering if given my mods below i could step down to a 3.25 pulley and if not what you would do to make it possible besides headers (don't have that kind of money). i don't know what my current knock level is...would the gm dealership or better yet some place cheaper like pep boys have a scanner that would work with my car?
thanx in advance!
da rev

Re: 3.25 pully?

nope.....you would need rockers or cam and headers or 3in down pipe and aftermarket PCM

Re: 3.25 pully?

Well, there's a guy in Calif. that has a couple more mods that you have, he says he runs one. Then there is a guy in St.louis that says he tried and couldn't.
I run a 3.4" on my GTX and I have more then the guy Calif. Everything I read says no you can't. The 3.25 will give you too many KR's.
I don't think you can, but you will hear from the rest of the "group" and hear all kind of things.
Good luck

Re: 3.25 pully?

It is very possible you COULD drop to a 3.25/3.2 and not have any KR if you get a good 3" downpipe ~$80 and a ported front manifold ~$80.

For a little more(but still less than headers) it is very possible you COULD drop to a 3.25/3.2 and not have any KR with the SS IC from www.zzperformance.com

The www.ls1m.com is a good cheap scanner.

Re: 3.25 pully?

You could always go w/ water injection instead of the intercooler.

I was supposed to install it on my car last night but my buddies SS IC install didnt go as smooth as I'd hoped.

I ran a 3.25 w/ just a tb spacer/cai/catback/xover wrapped/autolite104's. It pulled 7 Deg of KR but with race gas was good enough for 13.8's

If your going to start modding more and dropping pulley sizes then its really worth it to buy a scanner.

Autotap or LS1M are the 2 that I would suggest.
