300 block will a 88 fit on a 95

Will a short block from a 1988 300 4.9 fit a 1995 300 4.9? I don't know why it wouldn't but I know fords are odd and not always compatible, I thought someone might know or done it. I threw a rod through my oil pan and found a engine out of a 88 and it's so cheap I can't pass up the engine to put the block on my 95 and use the rest for parts. Please help ASAP

everything should match up. a friend of mine put a 300 from an 80 something f-150 in his '92 with no problem, so i don't see why it shouldn't fit a '95
