P1870 Problem resolved!

Hi,
I own a 1997 Chevy Silverado w/5.0L Vortec Engine, extended cab,
with 152k miles, I owned it since 60k miles. The truck has proven to be
very dependable, except for the intake manifold gasket... which I replaced with an aftermarket gasket instead of GM's poorly designed
plastic gaskets. Well anyway at 152k miles I started to get the P1870 error, a quick trip to autozone, free use of the scanner and it turned out to be a tcc error. Aamoco wanted to complety rebuild the tranny, I am not an idiot, I knew the planetary gears were in great shape, if anything the the throttle body in the tranny just needed work. Well I found a local transmission shop that was willing to pull the trannys throttle body, bore out the valve body, replace with a Sonnax valve and kit, flush the transmission, new filter etc. The Truck now shifts perfectly, no more hard shifts between 1st and 2nd gear. They also updated the tcc. Total cost: $500.00

That sure beats an rebuilt transmission from Aamoco that I did not need.
As long as the transmission fluid and filter get changed every 50k or so, the gears should last for the life of the truck.

Stay away from Aamoco, they are thieves. If I trusted my local Aamoco this fix would have cost me $1900.00!!!!
