1990 240sx transmission swap

I was wondering If it is possible to change an automatic to a manual. Along with this question, i have a few others:

1. Does the American 240sx share the same manual tranny as the JDM sr20det silvia?

2. How much will a transmission swap cost? how long will it take?

3. What other components will i need other than the transmission? (ex. clutch pedal...)

4. Where can i find these parts? i live in Davis, CA (near sacramento)

Im only asking these questions because i cannot find a 240sx with manual in my area for me. Please help me out as any info may help me decide in buying a used automatic. thank you!

Oh yeah, one more thing, how can you tell the car has the hicas 4 wheel steering? i guess one way is to maybe steer the wheel a lot and look at the back tire, but is there any other way you can tell by looking underneath the car? thx

yes you can do the swap, but the sr20 tranny doesnt work with the KA. Do a search if you want more info, i believe moonoxide is also doing this swap so you might want to hit him up with a PM.

well the sr20 tranny is capable of being swap with the ka24 engine but thats a cutom work its in one of my magazine that a guy did that

Im trying for the ole Auto-5Spd because i love my 240 and there are none for sale here...or will there probably be that will be in as good condition as mine...sooo...the Manual swap for me is gonna consist of most likely going to a junk Yard...or maybe a performance shop(HOPEFULLY) buying it off them and asking them if its been rebuilt or if they know any background on this tranny. Then ill take it somewhere during a weekend and BAM ill have a 5spd S13. Now my only problem is gonna be the price tag ....Hoping to find a tranny with Drive Train for like 500-750 and getting it installed for like hopefully under 1000. But, I want to get an Exhaust soooo bad and its like 510 soooo...looks like this summer a 5Spd will be on "Order".
