Dashboard lights / how to replace
The last of the dashboard lamps just burned out on my sons 94 Ranger XLT 4x4. How easy/difficult is it to replace them, and are there any directions available on the web anywhere to follow for guidance?
Thanks |

Ranger dash lights...
I just replaced the dash lights on my 93 ranger... It required removing the instrument pannel... which is not difficult... the tougher part is removing the "bezel" or the trim piece ... around the pannel... without breaking it... 93 and 94 rangers have a bezel that is put on with push in type clips... not screws... they have to be pryed out carefull so as not to snap them...
Do not do this is the cold.... as plastic gets more brittle... this is a summer time or heated garage... for a few bucks .. pick up a hayes or chiltons... and review the "bezel" and instrument pannel instructions... .... after you remove the bezel the instrument pannel is exposed.... and can be removed with a tork screw driver..... and either 4 or 6 screws... it pulls forward and the two electic connection plugs can be removed and you reach below your dash and push the spedometer cable up.. to get as much slack as possible and you can slip your hand behind.... and the cable releases with a push clip... the diagrams in haynes are valuable to see the types of connections on the spedo etc... minimun of 2/3 couple hours....if not a pro a bit longer on the first time... the bulbs are accessable from back of the removed pannel..... take your time... and have the plastic warm... it is a bit of a pain but can be done at home. |
