it is a 2002, just bought it used. And of course I find out the manufacturers warranty ran out a month and a half before I bought it.

first, after having some cold weather changes, the plastic panel on back hatch cracked.

Now, my interior light stays on, the door ajar light stays on, and the radio quit staying on untill after I open the door, after the car is shut off. I'm hoping that is like a blocked sensor I can clean myself.

oh, and the passenger side speakers go in and out at their own leisure, LOL.

I love the ride. and luckily with the loan I got a warranty that covers all mechanical and electrical problems. Although it would be a pain taking it to the shop all the time. Sounds like the 2002 explorer replaced the Edsel.

Re: and good 2002 Ford Exp.

Hey you know my damn door ajar light acted up a few times. Every time the fix was for me to open the glass lifgate and shut it hard. These trucks let me tell you, I like the explorer but man it's a challenge to own one. Hey just bought my extended warranty 2 days ago on the day the offer expired. I had enough issues to make it a good move.

Re: and good 2002 Ford Exp.

you can open via remote or via black button next to rear license plate. get really low behind your truck about eye level to the bumper then look up and just right of and above the plate. you will see a black rectangular rubber button on the crab used to lift main gate. Push that to unlock the glass liftgate. That recall I mentioned should pertain to your truck too since we both have the same.

Re: and good 2002 Ford Exp.

Call the sales manager where you bought the vehicle. Was it a Ford dealership? See what they can do for you.

As to the cracked panel, you and the rest of us are on our own at this time. Ford knows about it but haven't done a thing about out for us. There is a techinical service bulletin on this for dealers but no financial assistance on this matter.

Your lights staying on, see the posting below this one.

AS to speaker, sounds like a loose wire in door panel. Remove door panel and look at connector to speaker and check. Removing speaker to examine may be easier.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.

Re: and good 2002 Ford Exp.

Your Welcome....now be careful. Check that recall and see if your vehicle is covered. Lots of glass liftgates have been cracking at the strut mounts. I don't use mine just in case, until I get the dealer to fix it. I know my trucks a few years old and has not cracked yet, but you know things like to happen when you least expect.
