Don't know where to mount subs

i have a 1990 s10 and i also have two audiobahn 12" subwoofers. how would i go about installing them. i don't know where to put them. someone told me i could cut out the back of the cab and the front of the box so the subs are in the cab but the box is in the well box. if i just mount the subs in the bed (i have a topper on it) will the bass still sound good in the cab? any suggestions are helpful

Re: Don't know where to mount subs

I imagine that it's a standard cab, so your very limited space wise.

I'd never cut a hole in the cab just for speakers, it's just asking for problems and leaks.

I can see 2 solutions
1 - have really skinny boxxes made up for behind the seat.
2 - get a sleaper for the box, and install the sub box in there.

You'll need a sliding window for the sleeper, and in my opinion they're ugly, but it would house your subs easily.

It'll be tough to make boxxes with the right air volume for behind the seat.

Good Luck

Re: Don't know where to mount subs

You can do it, you will have to sacrafice about 2 inches of leg room. thats why i opted to put 10s in my truck. I have 2 audiobahn 10's b hind my seats and a audiobahn amp on a rack displaying it. so two extra inches of subs will fit. First you have to drill out the welds on your jack harness. be careful not to go through, if you do get some Jb weld and patch the holes. Once your jack is removed. take measurements behind your seat. with them back as far as you normally ride with them. You need at least and average of 1.5 in of space infront of the sub. Thats about how much i have on mine and they sound great. Then decide if your going to port your box or seal it. You might want to skip carpeting your box because that will make your space even more minimal. Im going to paint my boxes when i get around to it and then ill drill holes through the floor and bracket the box down. Anyway just be creative. with it. dont make it harder than it really is. make sure you come close to the requirements of air space though or your subs will never hit to there full potential.

Re: Don't know where to mount subs

12s are too big for a standard cab.
