RE: 2001 PONTIAC G/A WON'T START...Figure this ???????

I was told yesterday to try the extra key that I had made a while back, so I did and it cranked fine..Then last night when my fiance & I went back to get the car where it was sitting, I used the spare key to unlock the door and then THAT key didn't crank it...ahhh!!!..so I swap from old to new key a couple of times and the old one eventually did get it started, so I do at least have it at home now...thank goodness !!..I went out to try both keys this morning and neither cranked it, but I might add that it sputtered this morning and has never done that before..?? Also, yesterday when I intially went to try the spare key after using that spare key, my key remote DID start to function again but last night when we went back, it DID NOT work...if u know of anything else that I can try, plz let me know...I'd really appreciate it !!..do u think maybe it is the fuel filter ? I can hear the pump kicking in,though !!...or IS it actually the key or the ignition switch ????...Am almost to the end of my rope on this one !!!!
Thanks,
Alicia

GA lock cylinder/ignition switches are known for failing. The internals seem to be pretty frail. chances are the ignition lock cylinder needs to be replaced. from what I've seen for those of you in the US they run about 275-300 bucks to replace. Go to a reputable gm dealership, they should be able to fix the problem. Good luck.

Marc,
