CAT Question....

My cat. converter is no good, i have an emissions test coming up and i will fail if i dont replace it...my question is what is the deal with the hi-flow cats? are they legal? do they do the same as a regular cat and if they do how come they are half the price of a regular cat? i live in MD and i refuse to change my cat every 2 years just to pass a emissions test, i have heard mixed reviews on the hi-flow cats so i figure i would ask you guys..any feedback is appreciated.

the whole purpose of a cat. converter is to reduce the poisonous shit that comes out of your exhaust. a high flow cat does exactly what it's supposed to do, it flows a lot more than a regular one, too much more. sometimes too much to allow you to pass emisions. so just buy a new one, not a used one, and youll be fine. and why would you have to change it every two years?

because i have to get an emissions test every 2 years and if a hi-flow cat will not allow me to pass emissions i would have to change it to a regular cat before my test...but im just gonna get a regular one to be on the safe side...thanks for the feedback.

go to autozone and buy one of their OEM style cats. They will get you to past smog for sure. get the one with the lifetime warranty and you will never have to worry about pumping more money for a new cat again.
