Electrical Demons. Honda Priests?
Couple-a-things my fellow four banger fiends, (and I used the search all ready and I don't think I found a solution, so, please, suggest a solution, or provide a link...not that I dont love the flames...)
97 Civic Hatch. Replacement motor (and such) put in +/- 9k miles ago. 65-70k on motor, 120 on car. 1. Lights dim. I don't mean, they seem unbright, I mean they are very visibly dim, brighten, dim, brighten, continuously regardless of drive time, this means all lights - interior lights, headlamps, the whole loot. Brand spankin friggin new alternator. My suspicions: belt tensioner. My problem: ignorance, not sure how to fix that (the alternator I mean), Haynes manual I have is no help. Ideas? 2. When the lights are/were working properly, can't see nuthin no how. The car is lowered about 1-2 inches (eibach prokit and KYB AGXs), but cant see anyway, even with the fog lamps, any good lamp solutions? 3. Even though this is SO wrong and I would flame me for it, anyone want some OEM 97 civic seat covers? I put in 'tegra seats in (hybrid seats, long story) so I figure someone could use the seat covers, great condition no rips or burns or stains, sellin cheap. k thanks AF, I anxiously wait your replies. PEACE! -wheel

Re: Electrical Demons. Honda Priests?
okay well im not gonna flame because i have nothing against flamers, they give good head jk but..
if you have a 97 civic hatch why are you asking in the 92-95 forum and not the 96-00? 1. the bracket on the top holding the alternator away from the motor/timing cover is easily adjusted manually to tighten the belt. loosen the bolt and have a friend push the alternator away to tighten the belt, then tighten the bolt back. its pretty easy to to do with just one friend and one wrench 2. when you lower the car you should always have the headlights readjusted, thats why there are those two adjustments on the top of the headlight, to adjust the angle it projects. regular lights are supposed to go 100 feet, high beams go 300 feet, fog lamps should always be aimed downward even moreso than either of the aforementioned lights because some cops will give you hell over them. also, if youve seen the new commercial on tv for silverstar superbright bulbs youll learn that regular lights dim before they burn out. 3. flame flame flame nice signature, you shoulda stayed in tha hood :ŹD

I adjusted the beams when the car was lowered, and again when I painted the metal reflector (metal piece, paint it black "for that JDM look" nonsense). And NO, I didn't paint the part that reflects the light, sheesh. Still can't see, I guess it may just be poopy lamps, will check and why not, swing by the local Catholic church on my way back from autozone, for some holy water thanks guys, and flame you too!

That's a good idea, I thought about that right after the motor was replaced and I noticed the lights, but never got around to it and forgot about it until now, it's likely that the mechanic may have forgotten to sand off the ground points when he put them back.
good lookin out
