Ok, here's the problem.
Put key in ignition, turn vehicle on....interior lights come on, everything seems to be normal. Turn the key start the engine, all goes dark (with a few clicks from the starter first)....EVERYTHING. Remove key from ignition, close door, power resurfaces in vehicle, alarm goes off. Connected jumper cables to battery from another running vehicle. Tried again...same problem. Is it the starter? Or a short somewhere? Loose connection on the starter? ARGH. Any assistance or input would be greatly appreciated. Frustrated in Houston (Galleria). Thanks !! |

Re: 1998 Tahoe - Electricity but Dies - HELP
I have had similiar happen to me, albeit in 2 different vehicles. The two culprits in my case, might be the same for you:
1) Bad Cell in Battery - Have it tested at Autozone or other 2) Corrosion on the battery cables at the point where the lead terminal wraps around the cable. I had no corrosion on the battery post, but had corrosion between the terminal and cable connection. The corrosion ate enough copper strands away to make the power cut when the engine vibrated. Hopefully, #2 is your prob, it's really cheap to fix. |
