sounds like an 18 wheeler
Hi Im new to this forum... I just bought a 98 chevy metro 1.3 4 cyl. auto, air. nice little and fun car. 1 day after we bought it. it began to sound like an 18 wheeler.. It picks up great. its sounds worse at start up. even when warm. calms down while in drive.. at first i thought it was a hose cause the fuel mileage seems to be suffering. i read in another thread that it could be something with the coolant. the temp gauge reads fine. coolant is full...... any ideas. thanks aj

Re: sounds like an 18 wheeler
Thats just it. We can only describe it as like your parked next to an 18 wheeler. or a fan blade hitting something. the car idles with this sound and then eventually slows but its still there(not as prominent)it drives fine it idles fine i dont notice a change in idle with this sound. plugs wired hoses serp. belt all fine.. Ive have never heard this before in any car i ever owned. Its very loud right when its started for the day. i drove it let it warm up. shut it down. restarted it after a min or two..same sound.. its really very strange.. thanks for your response Im at a loss aj
