2000 GMC Safari Van Vibration

Greetings to all. This is my 1st time at this, so bare with me. I have a 2000 GMC Safari Van with approx 71,000 miles. It has a severe vibration when idling with transmission in drive. It appears worse when a/c is on. If You push lever into neutral while holding foot on brake, it gets noticeably quieter. My first thought was the torque converter. Transmission shop told me that's not the problem. Could it be the harmonic balancer?

Re: 2000 GMC Safari Van Vibration

The vibration problem has been going on since we purchased the van used. I had several reputable mechanics (including the seller's mechanic) check out the problem and could not find anything. We have put approx 20,000 miles on the vehicle without and noticeable change. It is mainly an embarrancing type nuisance!
