Aftermarket intake modifications

I'm wanting to use one of my camaros as a commuter car to my new job. I've heard of those little fan like things that you put inside the intake hose and it increases power and fuel mileage. Has anyone tried one and was it worth it or has other ideas for better gas mileage?

Re: Aftermarket intake modifications

It's a throttle body too, but it does have the intake going out under the hood, so I think it would fit there, also another site which had the same thing with a different name did have a version that would definately fit in a TBI or older carborated model, I don't remeber the company name, but its on the net.

Re: Aftermarket intake modifications

the only thing i found was a throttle body spacer. i really dont think putting one in the end of the snorkle tube would help. i did see one made for a carbarated car that lays around the barrels. one of those may work.

Re: Aftermarket intake modifications

no a tb spacer u put at the base of the throttle body where it meets the actual intake manifold essentially it adds more space between the two to allow more air comming in and gives the injectors more chance to spread/spray the fuel into the manifold or at least i think thats pretty much how and what they do

Re: Aftermarket intake modifications

tornados are a scam, take your money.

spacers dont allow more air in, it smooths the flow of the air in the intake and creates a higher peak powerband. worth like ten hp maybe.

Re: Aftermarket intake modifications

Don't get the tornado...I've heard of a lot of people having problems with their MAF after installing them on their camaros... It makes the air swirl in a way that confuses the MAF into thinking there is no air and then there is a ton of air.

If you have a 305 TBI camaro try this link http://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/tbiramair.shtml

I modified it so I didn't have to take out my turn signal
If your interested let me know (don't want to write an essay if I don't have to).
