here is the story, It ran fine, no perfect then i went in to work and can out and it wouldn start. My 95' nissan sentra would turn over but wouldnt start. Now my question is, could it be the distributer or what. I hear a rumor that after 150k mile the timming would go out. is that possible??? I tried everything in the book just short of replaceing the distributer and redoing the timming. help me figure this out plz

i have the same problem
hey there i am having the same problem but it was all cause by a shitty rebuild alternator that let the pulley fly right off while running. but I have done everything but the distributer, ordered one today to try that. if that worked for u plz let me know if not what did u do?

Re: Car Wont Start
Same here, 1995 Sentra GXE, it ALMOST cranks, but won't. Tried hooking it up to my other cars battery for about 20 minutes, no change. I JUST put insurance on this car 2 days ago!!

well i got her running again but i will warn u the new distributors are pricey as hell. if u pull the number one plug and hold it about half and inch from the exhaust manifold u test the spark. u want it to be blue or white if not i would suggest starting from the cheaper fix's and work u way down to the distributor.

Well, before I go out there and look, tell me where do I find the spark plugs and how do I get them out?

from the sounds of it u have never worked on a car b4? if thats the case i would suggest that u get the hanyes manual for that car just as a guide. but for a nissan with a L4 motor they are right on top of the engine u should have 4 wires that lead to it just pull up on the top of the wire and then using a 5/8ths sparkplug socket u should be able to pull the one farthest to the left, thats ur number 1. then snap the plug back in the wire and hold it about a half inch from the exhaust manifold, the big metal thing that comes from the front of the engine and down, and have a friend try starting it.

Re: Car Wont Start
Okay, I did find them right after I asked that. But how would all four spark plugs go out all at once? I mean, even if one stopped working, it would still get some sort of fire from others. I think it's the timing chain or something to do with the fuel. I need to figure out if it's fuel injected or not. I have done SOME work on cars, but usually had someone there helping me out so I never really had to find everything myself. I will go to Wal-mart and get that sparkplug socket though, I think they cost like $2. I don't have a high-tension lead going to my distributor though, would that mean it's built into the coil or what??

well that all depends on ur engine, would u happen to know what engine u have, for most 95-99 sentra's its either the GA16DE or the SR20DE. b/c that would help a lot in telling u this stuff.
