no power
94 accord with 180k miles. when i turn the key, nothing happens. no cranking sound. i could hear the humming from the fuel pump. the battery, spark plugs, and wires are new. dont know alot about engine stuff. hear alot of advice from other threads talking about the main relays and ignition modules, but my car doesnt even crank up. a little bit of oil in one spark plug, but i just need a valve cover gaskit kit for that right? i do need to change the fuel filter and oil... should i do that first and then ask questions, because i don't know where to start with this lemon of a car.

If the fuel pump comes on then you have electrical power so check the computer for error codes. (some evil money sucking honda dealer can help you if your unsure how ::gags:: )
also just remebered my old van had a problem similar.. had it towed all the way to my house to put it up on jacks and after 5 seconds under the stupid thing I found the start plug disconnected... pushed it back in.. started.. and i felt like an )##

Re: no power
Do me a favor and dispell this little evil thought i have...check the coolant and notice the color. If the coolant is green then you're safe, but if it is a milky color, then you blew the head gasket and hydro-locked the engine. I don't think that is what happened...it is most likely that the starter relay burned out or the starter is trash, but check the coolant and post the results as soon as you can.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be my starter....but i would start with the simplest solutions to the more complex...first with your fluids, battery, starter...and if those aren't the cases then i would be concerned about the head gasket, engine etc..
