Slow Start-Up

I've been wondering this for a while, but never asked...

When my tank gets low on gas (about 1/8 tank or less) and my car has been off for a while and i try and start it, it spudders a little before it turns on. id say the engine turns 3-5 times before it actually starts.

does this happen to anyone else? i'm thinking it might be the fuel pump or filter. it always starts up but i'm just curious to why it does this and how i might go about fixing it.

Re: Slow Start-Up

low fuel prs. When your low on gas you don't have the same prs. When your car has been on for a bit, you can start it right up. It still has prs till it cools down. I found this out when i put on a 255 pump and it blew the seals on my b&m reg. Every time I would let the car get cold it would be hard to start.

my car does it all the time when im low on gas. It has to be the fuel pressure because i just changed my fuel filter and spark plugs and wires. I cant stand it taking a little while longer to crank so it motivates me to go and get my tank filled. Why does gas have to be so expensive now-a-days, it sucks

the best thing to do for a fuel pump and fuel system for that matter is to always have the tank at least filled half way, it'll prolong the life of a stock and aftermarket fuel pump.

ok this is kinda of on the topic but, does this happen to every1? when i am taking off from the line i notice that under 4k rpm's my car is kind of sluggish but when i hit 4k rpm the car feels like it hit vtec? and i dont have vtec. but for some reason at 4k rpm's it feels like a rocket was turned on and i go faster? does this happen to every1?

Re: Slow Start-Up

it happens to me all the time... i figure it's just the lack of torque in our tiny engines... if i lauch from somewhere around 4-4.5k i can get off the line pretty quick though.
