Help with 2004 Tahoe LT
Hey folks, I am new to this board and I wanted to say hello. I had a strange thing happen to me tonight that I thought I would share and just maybe someone out there can shed some light on my problem.
I have a new 2004 Tahoe LT. I've just got in September and I'm around 6100 miles so far. When I left work tonight, I turned on my rear defroster before I left the parking lot - however, I left my front driver side window cracked and did not have any other heating elements on when I was driving. After driving nearly 20 minutes to get home, I turned off the ignition in my parking spot when all of the sudden, I hear a loud explosion behind me. I look back and my entire rear window is completely blown out the back - I don't mean just a minor explosion, but glass blown 10-15 feet beyond the back of my vehicle. Also, the rubber frame that holds the glass in place is completely deformed. However, the bottom frame (where it locks to the tail gate) is still in it's locked position. Its very apparent that it was an inside to outside explosion as their is hardly any glass on the interior of the vehicle.
At first, I thought someone had taken a shot at me, but I am wondering if there could be some sort of electrical problem with the rear defrosters, or maybe some sort of pressure in the inside of the truck built-up causing the window to "blast out". It was the strangest thing I've ever been through. Could the window get too hot after defrosting and when cold air hits it, it can explode? Could there be some sort of electrical problem that can cause this?
Can anyone offer any type of explaination - truly strange occurance. I will be taking it in tomorrow morning for repair.
Many thanks. All the best, Tony in Phoenix
