anybody ever heard of a bertone?

i was driving around earlier and i saw this badass little white car, so i stopped in the road and got out and checked it out. the emblem said "bertone" and its mid engined and 2 seats. thats all i know about it. i think im gonna go back and ask if they wanna sell it... if anybody knows anything about this thing gimme some info! heres some pics.

yea i've heard of it and forgotten it so i dunno anymore its either french or italian .... erm isn't this supposed to be in car sitings

It's a Bertone X1/9. Bertone is a design company...they designed the car for FIAT back in the 70's. Fiat originally sold it, but once they left North America, Bertone bought the rights to the car and sold it as a Bertone. Only 85 hp stock, but it's quite light and has an excellent suspension, making it an excellent back road rusher. In fact, when it came out, the president of FIAT even fired him limo driver so that he could drive his own X1/9 to work everyday. It was the first ever affordable mid-engined car.

BTW, it's targa topped too, like an MR2 or Del Sol

fun little car, ive driven two and they arent monsters but handle pretty damn good.

well after hearing all this i want it even more! hell 85 hp is nearly 3 times what my honda has! i hope they wanna sell it (and at a price i can afford)

I owned one when I was 16. They are fun little seat-of-the pants cars, but expect lots of people to laugh at you & think you're gay!!!

yeah well i already have a 31hp 2-cylinder honda, soo that already happens when they see that car
