oil is everywhere =/
When I bought my 88 CRX Si it had 100.000 miles on it, but had been driven about half of that without oil. The head was totally destroyed. Tonight I was looking at what I would have to do to put a different throttle body on - I need to get it ported it anyway so why not take it apart? Well, I found a signifigant amount of oil and dirt built up inside the intake manifold. That doesnt really seem right, as that its intaking clean air..... Even for a motor that has a huge amount of miles on it, that stays clean normally, doesnt it?

Re: oil is everywhere =/
Dirt in the intake is very bad (ie run a long time without an air filter or some kind of breach in the intake system etc.). Oil in there means either very bad blow by (bad rings), clogged pcv system, leaking intake valve guide seals etc....
Def worth more investigation into the health (or lack of) the engine. The good thing is a replacement d16a6 is pretty cheap or you may have a good excuse to upgrade to something else, b16a1 perhaps? GL BTW, some varnish like coating is normal but not what you describe. |

Re: oil is everywhere =/
I've already rebuilt the stock Si motor. Got a new head, pistons, rods, everything has been replaced or machined. It just didnt seem right with the oil. The previous owners took terrible care of the car, no car deserves to be treated like that =(

Re: oil is everywhere =/
This is normal, it probably had a cloged pcv valve like said above.
