Top speed of 5.0 towncars

i have an 88 towncar, 5.0. i was wondering what it tops out at, with the govener and without if someone knows. i always thought it was governd at 130, but could go faster. anyone know?

an 88 tc with the 5.0 might be govened at 130 but it probably tops out more realistically at 105 ish
the reason i say that is the 88 town car and even most today come with s rated tires which have a top spped of 108 mph by law a auto manufacturer has to equip the car with a tire that can handle the top speed of the vehicle
not to mention town cars are not known for the aerodynamic efficiency... i had a 90 with a 5.0 and estimated top speed to be around 100.. but the speedo topped out at 85

i have a little handheld gps which i used to see how accurate my speedo was on my car and my speedo is exact as far as i can tell. so, i will just have to top it out somewhere, and use the gps to see speed since the speedo only goes up to 85. i guess the old people they marketed the car to didnt need to go faster than that lol.

Really my 90 towncar will top 110 easy stock with a 5.0 Liter and my dish is digital so i dont know what the speedometer tops at.

I have an 88 tc and I've topped it out at 110. or as the speedo likes to say "R". I think the stop on the display is broken!

That funny my 88 town car top's out just below 165 km/h (about 105 mph), and thats a scary speed for this huge car, dangerous indeed , i suggest find a real long stretch if u must test any theories on speed in a 88 town car, mostly for braking room. Have fun, watch out for them smokey's .

Mine doesn't have a stop, but the needle runs into the edge of the speeodmeter box thing (points to the 1) Your needle must be short or somthing. With a strong tail wind I've had the town cars speedo burried and had to break for pretty long before it showed again.
