Symptoms!! i need help quick!!
After i installed my speaker and i was driving around showing it off
i ran into a couple problems i noticed, whenever i stopped my headlights would become dim, and so would my dashbaord ligths even my guages were dimming out, wahts the problem... and i realize my gas is gone quick!! if i drive it for like 30 mins on a full tank quarter of it would be gone.... anyone might know wats teh deal with my bitch!!!??!

Possibly a short of some kind...when you installed it, did you make sure all of your wires were properly insulated so as not to come in contact with one another...
Also might just be an coincidental alternator problem.

I think it could be more strain on the alternaitor, how big of a system did you instal lol.

I have a fairly arge system in my car and I have no headlight dimming. I know a few people with very very large systems, which includes 4 subs, 2 amps, a TV and a PS2 and they have no headlight dimming. The only thing they added to better themselves was a Optima redtop. A capcitor isnt even really needed unless you are running something with a small alt.
With that said, our alts are pretty strong and it sounds like something isnt hooked up right. You need to double check everything.

I have no system and my lights dim when the car is at idle...and the battery power gauge goes from like 16 amps to 11-12 amps. I think it's just the belts need to be replaced, so check to see if your are good. But most times when you install a system without a capacitor your alternator is the first thing to go, and dimming lights is the first sign.

I have had a system in my car for almost 2 years and my alt didnt die till a few weeks ago. These alts are damn strong in our cars. Twizted to me it sounds like a bad voltage regualtor. That is internal to the alt. though. Capacitors are not a necessity at all.

after I put my system in my car it dims when my bass hits really hard. when I'm at idle it dims really hard, and when I'm going 85 on the interstate in high beams it still dims. I wonder what people in front of my think when they see my lights flicker at them.

To me that sounds like a ground issue. I bet if you got a ground wire kit it would solve your problems. Being a VR4 you have a 110 amp alt so you should see no dimming problems.

wow fast response!!! thanks everyone its not even that huge of a system well i have 2 amps running in there, kenwoood door speakers which i just bought, maybe tahts the problem.... but for my other problem with gas what could that be?

Are you sure the gas is gone, or could it just be a gauge malfunction...possibly with all the other problems, it might be possible that the gauge isn't getting hte proper power...I mean you did say the gauges were dimming...

lights will most definitely dim when you have a lot of power draw. 110 amps is crap when the amp itself is drawing 120

System bumping, headlights on, turn signal on, windshield wipers on and no dimming on only 90A. There is a grounding issue or something somewhere. I spoke with MitsuPride on AIM last night.

yeah its probly just alot of amps taken from your car... when you drive at higher rpms your altinator creats more electricity but when siting you just at 1-1 1/2 grand and most of you power would be socked up by the system. but the gas thing i cant explain that your system should have no relation to you gas...
