Newbie: What to look for?
I know this has probably been covered before, but I can't seem to get the search function to work. Here's my situation: I currently have a '97 240se Se that I absolutely love, but can't afford to keep due to buying a house. So, I've located a '92 g20 that looks pretty promising, but I don't know much about these cars.
The car has 127k on it, and has a couple of minor cosmetic blemishes, (minor crack in windsheild, a couple of door dings, etc...) It seems to run and shift really smooth. The clutch take-up is pretty high off the floor, and the speedometer needle seems to vibrate/waver a little bit. Other than that, the car seems pretty solid. The dealer is asking 3495, but I'm sure they'd take less. Is this a decent price? Are there any specific things I should look for in a used g20, (or any sr20de powered car, for that matter)? thanks in advance for any info you can provide, -ben france |

I just bought...
a 1993.5 Infiniti G20 with 102,000 miles for $5700 with no problems at all and basically in mint shape....It's a solid engine and suspension with Pearl white exterior and a 5-speed tranny, everything works (antenna works too)....I think I might have paid about $500 too much for it but I wanted the pearl white and the 5 speed...(my car doesn't have leather or moonroof as well) I think that price is pretty good and if they could knock a few $100 of it it would even sweeten the deal...
I would recomend for you if you have the money, to get like a 1993.5 or above with less miles for about $5000...but if that isn't possable, then $3500 for that should be just fine...I think the more problems when you buy a car the more problems will arise....But maybe you could take an extra $1000 to fix it up and to cahge all the fluids etc.... to make it that much better... Sorry If I rambled....

If you don't buy this one, you will have one heckuva time finding another 5-speed. Talk the dealer down a bit if you can, but even still that's a good price. Also check on www.kbb.com to get fair market value for your specific area. I would say go for it. They are good, sturdy cars.
