Listen to the engine while its running. If you can hear a hissing noise you probably have a vacum leak. if this dosen't solve the problem try a tune up. Be sure to replace the plugs and wires. The plug wires can look fine long after they stop working properly.

Re: Lack of power

Plugs and plugwires replaced about 2 weeks ago with platinum tipped Bosch plugs and mallory wires.
Oil and filter changed about 800 miles ago.
I haven't heard any hissing. But it does make a noise when I'm accelerating. It almost sounds like a camshaft or crankshaft bearing. If it is I'm gonna drive it till it blows up.

Re: Lack of power

Unplug your EGR valve and see if it gets a little better. This will generate a code. The EGR can fail and not generate a code, the ECM thinks it is working. When you unplug it the ECM knows it's not working and adjust things accordingly. I went through this a while ago. It was in the shop for 3 weeks and they could not find anything. So I bought a code scanner and just drove it until I saw the EGR acting funny. I unplugged it just to test it and BINGO. Replaced it with a junkyard unit. Still good to go.

Re: Lack of power

That's another thing, I seem not to have an EGR system, PCV system, or most of the emissions control, but it hasn't been removed, if anything that's the way it was built from the factory. It also NEVER had a catylitic converter on it even from the factory. I took it to the dealership and they can't seem to find these missing things either. Could they have built one and forgot a few parts in it?

Re: Lack of power

You DO have and EGR valve. Right near the master cylinder on the intake manifold. It is electric, black, about the size of a beer can. I believe the plug has 5 wires in it.

Re: Lack of power

The PCV is located underneath the alternator. I don't think there is an egr on this car. I can't find one on mine.

Re: Lack of power

You need to get yourself a Haynes or Chiltons manual. About $15 at most auto parts stores. It will have diagrams and photos with arrows to show you where things are located.

btw: this car does not use an electric EGR as I stated above, I had misread the year.
