Angry hard cold start

Plese help!! My 79 Buick with CHEV 305, V-8 just passed smog test, carb was rebuilt, engine tuned etc.. now in the morning it cranks strong but will not start.If I wait about 4 minutes then it starts.What could this be ? Also, after I tap pedal to bring down idle it seems to go back uo by itself!! Someone please e-mail me @ [email protected].

my experiance with carb'ed cars are all the same way, on a cold morning i pump one 3 times the crank it and it will start but i have to keep my foot on the pedal til she takes gas on her own.

It sounds like your choke might be stickin. If it keeps doin it open the hood and see if the chock is all the way open after it warms up,or u could have a vaccum leak.
