Refueling Problem with 1999 Miata ???

It’s the strangest thing, when I go to fill up my tank the pump, regardless, of the station I am at, thinks my tank is full and stops itself. It’s seems to always act as if I where at the point of topping off even when the tank is near empty. It’ takes 20 minutes to fill a tank as I can only pump 10 cents at a time.

Has anyone heard of such a thing?

Also – on carfax it tells me there is some kind of recall relating to the gas tank on the 1999 miata but does not give me any other information. Does anyone know anything about this, I’m wondering if they are related?

This is first post here, I’d appreciate if some feedback.

Thanks

We have a 99 and i have never heard of this problem. Our tank always fills full. I would call the dealer, because they would know of any recalls or problems.

Thanks, have you had any recalls on your 99? I purchased the car used so I don't get any of the notices.

Turns out there was a recall for my VIN number. The Gas Valve was stuck, I took it to the dealer and now the problem is fixed.
