2001 accident waiting to happen ( steering)
On Friday, luckily 3 blocks from my mechanic, my steering completely failed while driving. After two very hard right turns I got it into the lot. After inspecting the 4 year old vehicle with 55,000 ( yeah 5000 miles out of warranty) it was found that the entire power steering part was pulled away from the mounting, and of course it is not mounted in with bolts as all others are. My mechanic said he has never seen anything like this ever. ! Looked for recalls , none. The only recourse almost $500.00 in repairs! If this had happened while I was traveling on the interstate as I was planning to do this weekend this would be an obituary, instead of a complaint. My dealer was useless, they cash checks a lot quicker than they resolve problems. I feel this is a real threat to drivers . Where do I go to lodge a real complaint?

Re: 2001 accident waiting to happen ( steering)
The steering-related recall was only to tie back a hose that could rub and leak. I've never heard of this happening! How did you make out? Please share anything relevant for the rest of us PTers.
