2002 Corolla / Engine Vibrations

I was wondering if anyone out there might have an opinion about this. I was getting a vibrating noise from the engine and so I checked it out. I found that the throttle cable was vibrating in a bracket because the bracket did not firmly hold the cable. I tied it off and the vibrating noise stopped. I showed this to the mechanics where I take my car, because I wanted to make sure that my "repair" did not create any other problems that I might be unaware of. They replaced my tie with some foam. They also found another source of vibration noise. Both the brake lines, where they are attached to the sides of the engine compartment, down low by the wheel area, were also vibrating. They attached foam to them also.

My question is, does foam solve the problem? I understand that it muffles the noise and can prevent friction where metal meets metal at the point where the rattle is occurring. What I am wondering is if the vibration itself is likely to be a symptom of something wrong somewhere, or if I should worry about the integrity of my throttle cable and my brake lines because something had been making them vibrate?

You can probably blame me!! (joke) I work at the Toyota plant where we build the Corollas and Vibes. We also use to build the VOLTZ. For the trhottle cable, is it the u-type hangers/clips/holders that's holding it in place? You can just bend it more to hold it in place. That will not affect the cable inside because it has a metal coil lining inside. Sometimes those hangers tend to bend out after prolonged heat exposure. For you brake lines I am going to have to check that up for you. But from what I see at work, Sometimes they do tend to be too close to the fenderwell. Try and pull it out but not too much. When you pull it or try to bend it to further it away from the wall, make sure the lines are not starting to kink.
Try and pull it outward from the fenderwell. There is a little black rubber plug where it coming out of right? pull it right at that bend.
