Parking brake ?????

I've gotten in to a debate with a friend of mine as to if i should use a parking brake on my manual transmission cavy. I think that it should be used, he does not. Just wondering.

Sorry if this is in the wrong fourm.

Re: Parking brake ?????

Whats so hard about yanking up on the lever?

And if you put it in gear when you park it, you dont need it, but its better to be safe than sorry I guess.

Re: Parking brake ?????

you cant power slide in a front wheel drive car... but your freind is probually thinking of when cars with parking brakes dont get used they freeze up because of the rust, if you use your brake regularly, you wont have this problem.. and its a good idea to use it with a manual..

Re: Parking brake ?????

I use miune even at stop lights so I don't have to hold a pedal. You have to dip the clutch when you start it so I guess you clutch and brake at the same time. Also if you put it on while stopped at lights on a hill you are less likely to stall as you can bring the clutch to the 'bite' before you release it, you'll know because the back of the car will dip and then you wont be embarrassed. Also you roll back into the Soccer mom up you ass in that minivan!!
Do use it for 180 turns in car parks around obstacles and stuff, love scaring my passenger!!!! Use it or lose it!!

You can power slide all you gotta do is crank the wheel and yank the e brake (keep the button depressed for quick release) i do it all the time

Re: Parking brake ?????

thats not power sliding.. its e-braking, power sliding is with a rear wheel drive car where you goose the throttle and slide.. get it... power slide. i e-brake at every opprotunity, parking, going around corners.. empty snow covered car lots..

Ilike doing it near parked cars when I have a passenger It's great to scare 'em. I was doing e-brake turns, reverse donuts and the like in a tight loading bay once and that really shit my pass up!!!!!
