Water leakage at pipe going to water pump

Hi,

Please help me. I have a pipe that goes from the radiator, makes a left turn (looking at the front of the engine) and goes to the water pump on the left side (ride side of vehicle). There seems to be some leakage underneath the pipe maybe where it is attached or maybe the water pump is squirting the water down the pipe and it drips from there. However the connection at the area where the pipe goes into the place where the water pump is has not had any evidence of leakage. Please tell what to do. Can I take the pipe off with no problems, I hear there is a bolt underneath the pipe around the middle of the pipe that needs taken off and then the pipe can be taken out of the water pump entrance. Please advice. Thanks. Part number of the pipe, description etc would help. Its not in Chiltons books. Thanks

Terry

Re: Water leakage at pipe going to water pump

Mine was also leaking at the same place. Go to the parts dept at a Geo dealership and get the O ring that is used to seal between the pipe and water pump. I think it was only a few dollars. Drain the radiator into a bucket, remove the pipe attachment bold and pull the pipe from the back of the water pump. It will pop out. Change the O ring and push the pipe back into the water pump. Attach bolt and fill the system. A little grease around the O ring will help it seal.

Re: Water leakage at pipe going to water pump

what year is your metro and is it stick or auto, i have a few spares. usually ther leak right where pipe goes into back of water pump, the o ring there goes bad, also there is a small hose on most that goes up to the throttle body in the middle of the pipe, make sure thats not leaking. to remove pipe just take the 10mm bolt out thats at rear of engine and wiggle the pipe out of the water pump
