I am doing some research on supechargers and turbochargers and was wondering some things.
I would imagine that the Ecotec motor must be upgraded slightly in order to handle a supercharger or turbocharger. Am I right when I say the pistons, crankshaft, valves, rods, and tranny would all have to ne upgraded? Along with that I would imagine an upgraded fual system with high end injectors need to be installed. But how about an upgraded fuel pump? Would this be necessary? Thanks for the input. |

from what ive heard you also need to add a minimum of 92 (i think its 92 or 97) fuel to that list...

stock the ecotec engine and car should be fine with up to 6-7 PSI of boost with either a supercharger or a turbo. If you want to go higher than that, then i would go with what your talking about.

the fuel pump might not be nessacery, you can alter the fuel pressure by decompressing the spring in the fuel pressure regulator, its a tricky little job, but it works, you can also buy an aftermarket one.. as if you didnt know that allready

How much boost are you planning on running. A stock eco with fuel mods can handle about 6 psi, but I wouldnt use boost without a built engine. Boost is addictive and Im sure you will want to turn it up. |
