Re: rsx t-s vs. base model

The a2 has oil squirters, besides that and stronger internals, for the most part the block is the same.

The main difference in the heads is the a2 has 3 camshaft lobes while the a3 only has 2. And you said you knew about the a3 not having vtec on the exhaust side, but thats the main differences.

Re: rsx t-s vs. base model

Did I run into a brick wall or am I posting in the 14 year olds only MSN forum?

You can switch parts, but all that work and cash isn't going to be worth it.....why not just save up a little more and start with the Type S to begin with.....then after you get the S you can mod that and get better results.

Re: rsx t-s vs. base model

Yeah like the crazy canuck said it probably would be cheaper in the long run to just get a type s. I have heard of people swapping out a a2 head on an a3 block and getting about 180whp but you wont get the 6 speed transmission. So all around it would be better to just spend the extra few bucks to get the type s.

Re: rsx t-s vs. base model

I feel that wall too, Canuck. My head hurts.

brettex,
Why not get a base and save for a turbo kit or something if you can't afford the Type S. It won't be an S, but it'll still beat what you're used to in the CRX. You can definitely squeeze some good power out of the base if you know what you're doing. Or, you could buy a base and pick up a used Type S motor on Ebay. This would probably be more hassle than it's worth, but it's an option nevertheless.

Re: rsx t-s vs. base model

Swapping in a K20A2 would be easier than putting all the internals from the Type S into the base engine.....

Re: rsx t-s vs. base model

If you want a base with TypeS internals buy a pre '05 TypeS and take the red badge off the back that says TypeS. That's the easy way!
