knocking and whistling after fixing
I just started my 95 taurus after fixing it from an accident. Now I replaced the radiator support, radiator, ac condenser and the front shocks ( 20-25mph front side impact ). Now after trying to bleed the coolant system I noticed a bunch of stuff that wasnt there before... I whisle sound from around the manifold... vacuum leak?
Some smoke comming from around the exhaust manifolds but I had a leaking valve gasket so Im pretty sure the smoke is just oil evaporating... now the most important problem... when I was bleeding the engine I revved it a little and refilled the expantion tank well after abound 20m I let go off the gas and the engine died... waited a little and restarted it... I heard two knocks before the engine fired, it seemed that it was fine but I have a bad feeling about this... I was watching the temp gauge all the time and it never passed the middle mark (didnt even get there) so what might have happend? Keep in mind that the car wasnt started for the past 6months. Any info would be great Regards, Tom |

Re: knocking and whistling after fixing
Did you check the oil level? Was the motor overheated in the aftermath of the collision?
Cause of the knock could just be pre-detonation. Now that you got the car together, do a tune-up. Check and if needed replace spark plugs, cap, rotor, plug wires, check timing. Vacuum leaks can cause stalling. A vacuum leak in the manifold can cause burned valves. If it is not knocking any more, I wouldn't worry. Sounds like all you need is a wheel alignment and you will be good to go. |
