annoying grinding sound up front drivers side
i am a pretty new toyota owner, i got this 89 pick up that at first was not bad until recently, it makes a grinding sound (loud) when i get the truck over 30 mph. it goes on and off but lately it has been on. it sounds like a metal to metal grinding sound and is awfully piercing to the ear, its not high pitch it is dull. i have replaced both bearings in it today inner and outer front drivers side, also the hub was replaced. im thinking maybe the u joint, but im iffy cuz the vibration is coming from the drivers side front, has anyone else had this problem? plz help

I've got something similar to that, its sorta like a groaning noise that gets faster as you increase speed. It's like somethings rubbing. I've got a 91 SR5 4x4 pickup. Whenever I hear it if I put it into 4 High it stops as soon as the front engages. It only does it when its cold and snowy, so I'm not sure what the deal is.

I had something similar about 2 years ago on my 91 2wd. Usually on cold startup, a grinding noise that sounded like a stuck starter solenoid increasing with speed and eventually going away. Turned out to be the Speedo cable. I just disconnected the cable from the back of the Speedometer and shot some lube down the tube. It hasn't made a peep since.
