Interchangeable parts

Are all the parts 88-91 civics interchangeable if they're the same model, transmission, engine size, etc? Specifically, I'm looking to buy this '89 civic dx hb manual tranny 1.5 engine as a parts car for my '91 civic dx hb manual 1.5. I've called a bunch of places and I've gotten 2 yes's and 2 no's. If not, which parts and which parts aren't? Thanks.

Re: Interchangeable parts

Depends on the 89.
Mostly yes, everything in the same years are interchangeable. 88-88, 89-89, ect. 90-91 were the same production.
A lot of parts are fully interchangable in any model 4gCivic/2gCrx

The 89 was special as it has two production versions, early 89 and late 89.
The only real difference is that the early 89 was a 88 model.
The seatbelt is in the A-piller insted of the doors.
The front fenders are different due to the sidemarker lights scewing in from the outside.

But the 89 doesnt have the 88 LCA, which is different than any model year.
And the MPFI intake was abit different too in 88

I like the 88 the best, but I have a early 89 Civic Si too, with 88 LCA conversion.

Re: Interchangeable parts

Alright, it that same vane, I have a similar question, I have heard that the instrument cluster is the same between the 4 dr, and the 3dr civic models 88-91. Iwas wondering if this was true since some of the 4dr models had the Tach, but the 3dr Dx does not.

Re: Interchangeable parts

As far as the cluster goes, that depends on the model you have, not necessarily the 2dr, or 4dr. All the Si hatches and crxs and the ex/lx 4drs I believe have tachs. But I don't believe any of the dx models came with one. I may be a hair wrong on this - but you get the gist - only the higher end models came with tachs.

Re: Interchangeable parts

but, the 89 engine is the same for 89-91. So if it's for a parts car, go for it!
