Hard Starting

Today I had my first experience with my LS not starting. I went into a store for about 20 min. and when I came out it would not start. I tried about 15 to 20 times before it started. Is this going to happen a lot ? Can I have this fixed even though it probally won't happen again for a while? What would be my next move?

Re: Hard Starting

without the CEl, check engine light, being illuminated you probably won't have a code. So you may have to reflect on the weather conditions or other symptons such as misfires to get a vector on the issue. Have you noticed any other drivability issues?

Re: Hard Starting

Although I havent experienced it I have heard of engines on the LS getting flooded. What is the weather like where you are. I recently made a trip to SC and the temp dropped drastically my first day and when I tried to start my car it was hard to start.

Now that I am back in sunny SW Florida I havent had a problem since.

Re: Hard Starting

i've experienced the not wanting to start thing. I have a 2000 v8. It seems to be when it's cold out about low 40's or so. I go to start my car but nothing happens. everything inside turns on like it should but when i turn the key there's no clicking no nothing. Since this has happened a few times i figured out that if i keep the key turned it eventually starts about 10 seconds later. Any ideas of wut this could be?? I also have a bad trans. It jerks really hard into reverse from park and it jerks into 2nd from 1st and stuters into 3rd from 2nd. Other than these problems i love my baby. Ohh yeah and i have brake problems. They squeek and make a really bad sort of grinding sound when i let the brake out slowly
PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Re: Hard Starting

how many miles fo you have on your LS. You might be able to get the Tranny work done as an After Warranty Adjustment, freebie work. My rear brakes had excessive wear turns out they were sticking a bit and wearing the pads and rotors out. That would be the first place I would start.

Re: Hard Starting

i bought my LS from a small car lot i also bought a 24month 24,000mile warranty through AUL or something like that. I called them up and told them i was having problems with my car and they said just take it to any licenced dealer and they will take care of it. I have about 95k on it

Re: Hard Starting

The stalling when hot is probably a leaking injector but the only way to know which one is either a scan tool or remove the injector rail turn the car to the on(not crank) position two or three times and see which one leaks. The jerking is probably misfiring coil boots. Buy Lincoln boots and if you see oil on them it's gonna need a valve cover gasket. The shifting problem can only be fixed at a dealership. They have to connect to fordstar and download a new shift calibration. Do it or your trans could suffer!
