interior lights

My '99 Suburban interior lights turn on by themselves (intermittently). I had this problem about 6 months ago and it seemed to have resolved itself until the problem returned. I am pretty handy with a multi-meter and just need some pointers on where to find and troubleshoot the switches and what module actually controlls the lights. Thanks in advance!

Re: interior lights

The Interior Lamp Control Module is located below the center of the instrument panel. It has 5 wires going to it. Grey, White, Orange, Pink and Black. The lights can get a ground signal 2 ways. From the module or directly from the headlight switch panel. The module can supply a ground to the lights 2 ways. From a door jam input or keyless entry input(you sure you're not sitting on the keyless entry button?)
Hope this helps..............Steve

You aren't the only with this problem. It's definitely not from sitting on the key fob. I just bought a 99 suburban that's doing the same thing. The thing has been at the dealership for 3 weeks now and they still can't find the problem. They thought it was the rear panel door contact switch, but the problem came back. I hope this helps or if it doesn't at least I don't feel like I'm going crazy.
Let me know if you found anything.
Thanks
Ryan

Your problem was identical to mine, it ended up being the right front pass. door switch. Mysterious inter. lights that come on by themselves...Not to bad to change, just got lucky and replaced that one first, the old one didn't look bad but was.
